Help with wireless access point

In my room, and basically a lot of my upstairs I have a weak signal. I was wondering if it was possible that in my room I plug in a network powerline adapter and to that plug in a wireless access point. If that worked, how would it show up on my wireless list? The same as the wifi in my house?

Depends how you configure it. You can use the same SSID or a different one. You would want to use a different radio channel in any case to avoid interference with the other signal even though it is weak.
