Is ASUS M5A97 LE 2.0 a good mobo for 6300? Have it anything like 5x protection type? Want to add a Sapphire R7 240 boost 1gb DDR5 gpu.

Solution

It could maybe handle a mild overclock but here's the thing... The VRM's (Voltage Regulator Modules) have no heatsink and they already aren't that good to begin with. These can catch on fire if you're not careful.

It's ok but really not that great of a motherboard. It will do alright unless you want to overclock your CPU. Why the R7 240? Can't afford a good graphics card?

M5A97 is ok board. Wont OC much and dowsnt have x16/x16 PCIe to run CF properly ( board is still comptabile with CF but @ x16/x4). And if you plan to keep your rig for a while get M5A99fx R2.0 and at least R7 260X OC.

I can sell you M5A97 R2.0 and R7 260X if you want it.......lol. Month old.......just upgraded
