i bought a hyper 212 evo for use with my am3+ 990fxa motherboard.

when i put the little star shaped metal device down to test if it fits in correctly it screws in perfectly.
when i put it on the heatsink and then try to screw it in only 1 fits and the ones on the opposite side are raised to high for me to even push them down enough to touch.

does anybody know why?this is really becoming annoying.

do you screw in screw 1 just a few threads in and then try the opposite corner a few threads?

You tighten each screw just a few turns at a time, alternating sides until all 4 are tightened. getochkn has pointed you in the right direction here.

yes, and when i do the 2 on the opposite side are "raised up" like a half inch higher and wont even tough the metal piece. i dont want to put too much pressure because in every install video ive watched there isnt a real use of force.

Make sure you're using the right bits. There should be a set for FX CPU's and a set of bits for LGA1150 CPU's. Then do as getochkn says - it should all be in the instructions that came with the cooler - READ THEM!

Pressure is good. That is how you ensure the heatsink has a tight bond with the CPU.

Just barely attached the first screw until trying to connect its opposite.

i think i figured it out, i was trying to press down the metal star shaped thing instead of the pins. it dawned on me that the pins must have springs for a reason. its in place now thanks for the response good sirs.
