Popping sound from drive -- is this the end of the drive?

I plugged an old drive into a docking station and there was a popping sound, a bit of smoke, and a piece shot off from one of the chips (see the center of the image attached). Is this the end of this drive? Is there any likelihood that I will be able to plug it into a dock again and try to access data from it? I do not want to use the same dock to try.

Thanks.

Yikes! I'd call that toasted.

If you wanted to try replacing the circuit board (google HDD circuit board replacement) it might work again. Though finding the correct PCB can be difficult and is no guarantee.
