I have a 1920x1080 DVI monitor my custom resolution is 2560x1440 using my nvidia card gtx 660 is this safe for my monitor or should I go back to 1080P ?

Solution
Its best to set a monitor to its native resolution. That way each pixel on the monitor is displayed as it should. When you go over/under the native resolution the image is scaled to fit. you basically let software decide which pixels to drop from the 2560x1440 image to fit it into 1920x1080 pixels.

Why does Nvidia warn me then by saying "This software utility may potentially cause damage to your display monitor and void warranties, if any, in connection with your display monitor." ?
