Hi experts!
I plan to play Assassin's Creed 4 and most other modern games with Nvidia Surround (3 monitors) at ultra quality with 5800x1080 resolution
Will these two SLI'd cards be good enough?
I've played AC4 with ultra quality on one monitor at 1920x1080 on my brother's gtx 280 and it was fine.
So will two SLI'd 280s be smooth with surround?
I know GTX 280 came out ages ago but my budget's $150 and I came up on both for $130.
And I know there are many single GPUs that are equivalent but I'll need two GPUs to play in Surround.
Please tell me if this is a good buy or not. Thank you!
I can also try to buy a GTX 660 Ti for likee $160 and that card only requires one GPU for surround. If that's a better choice than 2 GTX 280s, please let me know!
THANK YOU!!!

The biggest disadvantage is you can't run dx11 and take the full benefits from it. So the 660ti is probably the much better choice. I am noticing a lot of games that are coming out soon won't have that dx9 or dx10 support

GTX 280? I dont think so.
It would take a 770 SLI to a 780Ti etc to run what you want. The 280 has nowhere near enough power to run ultra on a single monitor, let alone ultra on multiple, to say nothing of the 1GB of Vram.

A radeon 7790 will be much better than the two cards. It costs around 130-140, and you would have to option to add a second card later to double the performance.

It will come no where close to playing maxed out on 3 monitors (maybe on absolute lowest settings). But it would do a descent job of playing on med/high on 1 monitor.

3x1080 monitors on ultra would require 2xgtx780ti's... And each would cost around 700$

A 7790 will be the best you'll find around 150$

Hope this helps

So 280 is totally out of the picture? Thank you!! I was so close to making the purchase!! But damn 770 is expensive. I guess I won't be able to play ultra anytime soon for surround. But I'll go with a 660 Ti. I'll also look into the 7790 and see which one i should get but I've seen a lot of people recommend the 7790 so I might consider it. Thanks for all your help guys!

If you have the 250$ the 660ti is an amazing deal! I would go for it.
Around 250$ nividia is beating the AMD offerings

@Gam3r01 GTX 660 seems to be better then 660 Ti. Is this true?
Sadly my budget is $150 :(  I'll just stick with my old 260s for now and save up for 660

Those are performance per dollar ratios, so the Ti has a lower value.
