I have done research and decided that I want teh 270X its performance capabilities and price are perfect for me. However I also want a card that will last. The 270X is based off an older card, so are there any newer cards like it coming out (dont have an GTX or AMD preference) any card with similar capabilities that may last longer would be prefect.
Want a card like the r9 270X but newer.

It will last a long time, NVIDIA is supposed to be the one to upgrade the manufacturing process, but it's most likely going to be quite a long time for Maxwell to hit. Even the Maxwell cards coming out are lower end, and still based on the same chip as the 7XX series, which is why the Maxwell 750 and 750 Ti are listed in the 700 series.

Nvidia's newer architecture won't come out for some considerable time. If you want the newer cards those are at the high end for both AMD and Nvidia. Unless you want to wait until end of this year and well into next yr for GTX 8XX.
But right now AMD is the better choice considering your words for "newer". Even if its based on near 7950 performance for 270X, its a redesigned card with newer API's like Mantle. Mantle will be used more and more often considering the gaming market is cornered by AMD when they took their APUs to the consoles.
