Hi. I am prepping the parts list for my next build on a NZXT H440 case.

See my PC Part Picker List [urlExt=http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Astote-ap/saved/4i3B]Here[/urlExt]

The one thing I have wavered on constantly is the motherboard (current pick is [urlExt=http://us.msi.com/product/mb/Z87G45_GAMING.html#overview]The MSI Z87-G45 GAMING[/urlExt] ). So i'd like to get some opinions on my current selection and possible better options. If you know of any really thorough guides I could read that are geared toward novices, that would be amazing.

considerations:

  • ■ The H440 cannot take anything larger than an ATX
■My budget is not particularly a factor. I just don't want to waste money on features i will probably never use.
■I want a board that can accommodate build upgrades like additional RAM, GPU, fans, or a liquid loop.
■I am new to overclocking; novice level software is a big plus and advanced software probably will not be used (at least until i upgrade the cooling system).
■The H440 has nowhere to put a bay fan controller interface because it has no 5.25 bays. so a board with excellent and numerous fan controls through software is ideal.
    ■ I need at least wireless N and bluetooth. my current pick does not have these built in, but it would be convenient if they were.
■My build has evolved into a red and black color scheme and it would be nice to match that.

Your input is really appreciated. In general i have found tom's hardware to be a fantastic resource. Thanks!

Thank you! I had looked into the formula and extreme, but not the hero. This looks like a great middle ground board. For ~$50 extra, it doesn't feel like I'm being squeezed. Any reason i should go lower or higher given my reqs? If not, I'll get a move on this rig fairly soon :) .

P.S. i might as well ask for if anyone has anything to say about the rig in general.

Admirable
i think it will be fine that is an excellent board if you are looking for overclocking and great bios from a red/black themed build. I think what I would add are some of the corsair silent series fans so the radiator, and the fan in the back taking the air out looks really nice. I built in the same case for a friend of a friend and I used the h100i with the corsair silent series fans I bought 2 120mm fans and 1 140mm fan with the red rings they matched the build very well in that case. If you do get lighting don't get red lighting get a nice white led kit because the red led kit just won't look right. Because that was the original color that i picked out and it really just over killed the whole thing, but with the white led kit that I had lying around it made everything look nice and clean inside.
