When I had a tech look at my laptop he said that the "partial" programs he installed should be fine as long as I run them.

he has: IObit Malware (although it keeps adding programs I did not ask for)
CCLEANER
Avast free Antivirus
super antispyware
RegCureProShortcut

Lately the Avast pops up saying no firewall! I am frustrated. I do not mind having these free programs but I need the best ones. Help?

Solution
None of the products you have listed includes a firewall, although you also mention an Avast trial version - - trial version of which product?

However, Windows XP has it's own firewall built-in, allbeit it only monitors traffic in one direction. It may be turned off. You can turn it on again by following this guide of click the "Fix it" button: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283673

Lastly, uninstall RegCurePro which is in your list. It has the potential to do more harm than good if it removes any required Registry entries. Same goes for all registry cleaners, they are unnecessary.
