Ok today I got my new computer case :D, so I took everything out of my old case and put it into my new case then I add the standoff that came with it, I had like five extra left (Here where I do something stupid) so I decide to put the extra in the case, then I got everything setup, I press the power switch and the fan came on for a sec then went off :( , then I heard you can fry your mobo if you put the standoff anywhere beside the hole on the mobo :( .

So do you think I fry my mobo or there could be something else wrong, I also don't have warranty.

i would say take your motherboard out of the case, and then test it by shorting your power pins of the motherboard. Chances can also be that your Power Button of your case might be not good in case it just stay pressed whole the time. Attach basic components to your motherboard and check it like cpu, cpu cooler, 1 ram stick, keyboard, display, 4-6 pin atx power plug for powering your cpu and the main connector to your board. Then short the power pins and check if you get display. Remember to clear CMOS and placing your motherboard on wooden desk.

I should had bought the warranty, didn't think any of this will ever happen,I'll buy the warranty from now on.

You could still have the manufactures warranty that comes with the product. Most motherboard manufactures will consider an rma if no burn marks, cracks, or modifications have been made to the motherboard. So just contact them over the phone and tell them that your motherboard won't come on not that you think that you might of fried it. You will need to pay for the shipping but for the most part rma's can be fairly fast

If your motherboard is under 2 years old normally they will still have the manufactures warranty. Just check for burn marks and if you don't have any you should contact the board manufacture and check about an rma request. I am pretty sure what caused it was something that you did wrong but don't tell them that.
