I recently bought a seagate 7200rpm 1tb and for me it is very noisy, with continuing head parking and many vibrations (than producing more noise and trembling). I will return it then, and mainly looking a hdd as quiet and with less vibrations as possible.

Important: I have already a primary sdd samsung evo 250gb with the OS+programs+games. My idea for this secondary HDD is storage and playing smoothly hd movies, music, and run a few games like dota 2, team fortress 2, or any indie (for the rest of games I will use the ssd).

So I would know what is better choice with 1TB, wd green, blue or black? I heard that the black is more noisy and expensive (more used for primary drive), so that my choice possibly will be between the green (5400rpm) or the blue (7200rpm), my priority is silence and less vibrations, and that works good for what I said in the above paragraph.

Thanks!!

I have a few blacks and a green. I never hear a peep out of the green, although it is sitting a little farther away(I use it for NAS). So I'd recommend the green, and for ultimate silence you might try it as an external drive that sits farther away (wireless NAS in a closet).

Thanks. I have a external WD Elements 500GB and it is silent dead, but need a internal hdd, if the green works good for my needs I will go with it then, the green is more quiet and with less vibrations than the blue right?

But works the green great for my needs or need a 7200rpm?

EDIT: I forget say that also I will use the HDD for download from torrents and DD all videos and storage here directly.

A few of the models of Green perform better than my 7200rpm Hitachi drive according to Userbench, and my HDD is generally quick enough. I don't think a WD Green would really limit you, but then again I'm not used to having an SSD or a fast HDD to compare it against.

I believe some sites sell internal HDD sound dampening chambers and pads as well. You might want to look into that as an option for your current HDD.
