1 month after I used 2 RAM sticks my laptop suddenly did the BSOD. I have tried different support files offered by Microsoft to fix the problem, but it wasn't working. The I read an article about faulty RAM sticks causing BSOD.

My RAMs are
1. Hynix 4GB PC3-12800 DDR3-1600MHz non-ECC Unbuffered CL11 204-Pin SoDimm Single Rank Memory Module Mfr P/N HMT451S6MFR8C-PB

2. 4GB Transcend DDR3 1333MHz single laptop SO-DIMM memory module, CL9, 204 pins. Suitable for newer systems using DDR3 SO-DIMM memory. PC3-10666, ratings CL9-9-9-24 at 1.5V.

I tried removing the Transcend RAM and the BSOD disappeared, but just recently I replaced my Hynix RAM with the said Transcend and the Laptop is still working which means that both RAMs are working fine.

Now I know that using 2 different RAM sticks are a no-no (my bad). And now I'm using my Transcend RAM
Now my questions are:
1. Did what happened cause a permanent damage to my laptop and will I ever be able to use 2 4gb RAM sticks again?

2. does the brand matter? If I can use another RAM stick then I am planning to buy another 4GB DDR3 1333MHz SO-DIMM RAM, but can I use other brand aside from Transcend like Samsung or Apacer or any other brand with the same specs?

In short no perm damage.

You never mix ram modules for two reasons, the speed may differ.
Or all though the speed is the same the memory timing values can differ based on the brand of memory chips used.

If you look at the sticker of each memory module it will state the speed but also the timing values of each based on the ram chips used. if the timings differ then mixing them can cause BSOD.

Buying a matched pair of modules, means the speed and timing values are exactly the same.
so no conflict.
