You can just connect the 3pin connector into the MB 4pin header like the link http://www.singapore-pc-servicing.com/cpu_fan.php
The 2pin one is not fault, it is the very simple one, one for power and other is ground.

What MB do you have?
The both of them will run in full speed, because they are controlled by the voltage. If you have the asus mb and you can use the fan xpert2 to controll the speed by using the 3pin one ( one power, one ground, and one sense ). The you only can connect the 2pin one into the PSU 4pin molex, and the 3pin one into the MB.

I forget the fan xpert2 link. http://event.asus.com/2012/mb/p8z77_series_motherboards...

You can try this speedfan http://www.silentpcreview.com/SpeedFan or the IntelĀ® Desktop Control Center http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/software/dcc/

Yes, it is supposed to have 4 pin but 2 pin will work too as long as it has the power+ ground wire. More info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_fan
