You've most likely heat-damaged the wireless chip on the laptop's motherboard. Buy an external USB wireless adapter, install it as per supplied instructions, then set up new wireless connection.
Important - do not plug in the USB WiFi adapter until you have started to install the supplied driver software and it asks you to plug it in!
