Hello guys. I'm looking at upgrading my Dell Inspiron 660 and am fairly new to a bit of this stuff. After looking around and reading a lot of stuff around various forums and such, I think I may have put together what I might want, but I'm not 100% certain it will be compatible with the computer. The computer itself is basically a stock Inspiron 660 [Not the slim one].

For the Power Supply I'm looking at a Corsair CX500;

And then for the Graphics Card, I'm looking at a Radeon 7870;

I'm going on the assumption that these will work and that I won't have any problems, but I wanted to make sure that I'm not screwing myself over with these purchases. I would also like to hear if you have further advice on the subject, like maybe a suggestion for a better item to get. I really appreciate any and all help that I hope to get on this.

the only issue i see is the size of the graphic card relating to the case. i would open your case, measure how long (and wide) of space you have around the PCI-E slot and compare that to the card you want to buy. i say this because higher model graphic cards tend to be bigger than lower models for obvious reasons; they are better. the power supply should work. do you know if your mobo has a 20 pin connector or a 24?

That power supply is cheap and has poor capacitors , get this one , it's OEM sized so it should fit.

Power Supply: XFX TS 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $59.99

I think that the size of the card should be fine, but it's just a tight fit. Should I look into getting one slightly smaller just to be sure? :/

As for the connector, I had to Google what it would look like just to find out, lolol. It's a 24.
