Graphics Card - NVIDIA GeForce 315 upgradeing to GTX 750 Ti

Why upgrade to a 750 Ti when you can get a 280x and max out every game you listed?

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Memory: Kingston 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£56.02 @ CCL Computers)
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 280X 3GB Video Card (£196.98 @ Aria PC)
Power Supply: SeaSonic S12II 620W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£59.35 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £312.35
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Are you using a 32 bit version of Windows? Because 3.1GB sounds awfully odd even with 512MB going to the integrated GPU. I say just upgrade the Graphics card. I'd get either a GTX 660 or R9 270x.

Sorry forgot to mention some of that money is going for a gaming keyboard and mouse but i guess i can get them later on. i have to say that i only know some of the basics in hardware so what is so good about this graphics card apparently the GTX 750 ti can run most things ultra (Apparently from all the youtube videos i have seen)

Well it depends on what you consider 'running good' I guess lol Averaging 30 FPS with probably varying frame time variances right now is what you'll get with it, but you gotta look into the future as well. I just wouldn't limit yourself when you have a pretty high budget.

Don't get me wrong, the 750 Ti is a great card that will run the games you listed very well, it just depends what settings you're looking for, and how long you want to play at those settings.

Will i was hoping i would at least be able to play on high settings with these games. i watched a benchmark video on youtube dude was running it at least 40fps but this guy obviously has a better pc than me though. will any of my other components limit how well this graphics card preforms i mean as long as i get a decent frame rate at high settings and it is a better option than what i was originally going to get i will get it. am not looking in to future games am just wanting to play some games on the computer

Yeah, the 750 Ti will get you 30-40 pretty well with High settings. Your CPU is good enough for BF4 so that's not a factor. BF4 does eat up a lot of RAM though, so definitely get to 8GB if you can.

If you're fine with 30-40 in BF4 with High and maybe some Ultra here and there, then the 750 Ti is probably the best bet for you. Most people prefer the higher frame rate compared to detail in shooters, but I know that's all preference lol I'm focusing more on BF4 here, as it'll be the most stressful on your system out of the games listed.

And I'm assuming you're considering the Corsair CX430? It's an ok PSU, and for your setup will probably be perfectly fine, but I would recommend something from Antec, SeaSonic or XFX if you can find it. Anything 350w or more will be completely able to power your system with a 750 Ti and have the PSU run at good efficiency.

going back to the R9 280X were you saying this could handle future games. the reasson i picked the GTX 750 Ti is because of how much money i have would i be able to make a PC that could handle future games with my budget?

sorry for all of these qestions btw i am just making sure that i make the right choice

The 280x has much more power, and will be able to handle games at Ultra and 1080p well into the future. The 280x has more memory, a higher memory bandwidth, and much more processing power. A good middle ground between the two would be the 270x, as mentioned above. You'll get High/Ultra at around 50-60 fps in everything now, and last longer into future games than the 750 Ti. Now, I'm not saying the 750 Ti won't be good in a year or two, it just won't be as good as something like the 270x/280x or the GTX 760.

I take it if i get the R9 280x i will see a lower frame rate due to some of my older components i guess i could get this then upgrade more of my pc in the future

did not think i would be able to get something for future gaming with my price range

Your i5 is fully able to handle the R9 280x. You may seem some light frame drops in intense multiplayer situations, but for the most part will be perfectly fine. Nothing else in your system would hold back the 280x - assuming you do the upgrade to 8GB of RAM.

The 280x will run a little hotter than an NVIDIA card, but since you're sticking with a single graphics card, you'll be fine with the airflow :)

Also, measure inside your case before buying a graphics card, just to make sure you have the room for it. Nothing worse than getting a GPU you can't fit :(  lol
