I have a 7 year old Dell XPS with an Nvidia card in it that randomly has verticle lines through the monitor that flicker and distort the text. I assume it's the video card, but on a couple occasions I've gotten blue screens, and a keyboard error in Bios after rebooting. Windows event logs have been worthless. Before I drop the money on a new card, can somebody advise whether they think a new video card would solve the issue, or am I looking at something deeper like HDD?

Thanks.

Sounds like the graphics card to me. Since I'm assuming you don't do much on a PC that old, you can get an Nvidia GT630 or AMD R7 240 for less than $50.

A lot of Adobe Creator stuff. Interestingly, the problem started almost instantly after a new update to Lightroom. I know this shouldn't be the cause, but it was interesting how much they seemed related.

Still concerns me that I get keyboard errors in the Bios at startup. Probably a different problem, but never saw it before the video problems started.
