AMD or intel for gaming?

Which of these will be better for gaming? The AMD FX 6300 (6-cores 3.5 GHz) or the Intel LGA 1155 Core i5 3450 (4-cores 3.1 GHz) . I wish to play high-end games at mid-high settings.

I wouldn't worry about their finances, they're making the APUs for both next-gen consoles.

But the Core i5-3450 is unquestionably faster than the FX-6300 in games. I happen to be running one myself, very happy with it.

I don't use their products so I'm not worried about their viability, however maybe you should do a little reading. Tom's published an article a couple of days ago saying AMD had lost big money for the last 7 quarters.

While the value of AMD dropped in 2013, AMD has been steadily increasing in value since early this year.
