Hi everyone,

I recently just purchase a new CPU (FX-8350) as a means to upgrade my gaming performance. Knowing my luck, something was bound to happen, and it did. When i first installed it, it would restart on the windows logo during startup, then get to my desktop after logging in. The first time i was able to successfully browse the web ended when my computer locked up: no beeps, long beeps, just a simple lock up. After that incident, Windows failed to start. So i ran the repair kit, did a system repair; it worked. it was on, I reinstalled the Elder Scrolls online overnight with no problems. This morning, after i adjusted some settings in the BIOs (switching from Balanced to Performance in a Sabertooth 990x Motherboard) It was causing problems again, So i went back and switched it to the default, and windows failed to start. In addition, my mouse and keyboard also seem to act up during this process; they're not detected and won't work.

So my question is: Could the motherboard be a problem? Could this be a faulty CPU? Do i need reinstall Windows? any input would be GREATLY appreciated.

Im currently at work so i can't give spec info.

I monitored temps last night; it was around 32-35C idle, and about 40-45C while running ESO. I removed the old thermal paste from the cooler prior to installing, I was able to get into the BIOs this morning before it started acting up again. Before i left for work, i attempted a repair and it was unsuccessful.

i would start off with the easy/simple steps to try to narrow down if it is a hardware or software/os issue.

1. ensure the memok light is not on
2. remove power cord and clear cmos
3. boot to bios and let it sit for a while, if it crashes then you can bet it is a cpu or hardware issue
4. if it did not crash, do a repair install of windows 7

I shall try these steps when i get home. I should also mention, just a side note, that I'm unable to use my keyboard or mouse when i get the "Windows has failed to start" prompt, or when i get the option to run in safe mode, etc. Could this be a motherboard issue? i'll switch to different USB ports to see if it fixes that problem.

Quick update:

- can't use the windows repair installation because my wireless USB adapter is only getting limited access. this problem arose this morning after i did the latest system restore.

- Can't do a fresh install of Windows 7; i was only able to boot via UEFI, and when attempting to install, i couldnt select my hard drive because it was an "MBR disk partition."

- Everytime i try to boot it through P3, I can't boot from the DVD because my keyboard is not being detected. It takes me straight to the splash logo.

It sits in the BIOS fine; there's no crashes. But i can only use my keyboard since my mouse isn't detected. I would appreciate a quick reply from anyone as to what they think it could be.

Im starting to think that my motherboard is giving out. these problems of not detecting devices began about a week ago. Any thoughts?
