Hi,

Last night, the hard drive made some weird clicking noise. It started at midnight, and the computer has been on the whole day. It is a 2.5'' SATA HDD, 320GB Western Digital.

Now, the computer has been on for a few hours, and I do not hear any clicking noise anymore.. That makes me think that it could be an overheating issue, but none of my components are overheating according to different monitoring softwares, like HWMonitor and ASUS Thermal Radar. The only components that get's over 60 degrees celsius, is my VCORE1. And I believe that would be my VRM. It's located at the left side of the CPU.

Any conclusions? I have made a backup of the HDD, incase it will die.
I have googled it, but my gut dont believe it is the "Click of death".. Dont ask me why :p

Solution
Hard drive clicking normally means it is going to fail.
Test your hard drive.

If you do not get any errors on your hard drive you may be fine.
Make sure to keep backing up data. Also, check the hard drive a lot.

Then there is probably nothing to worry about. If you still feel concerned about your data you can buy another HDD and transfer your data to it and use your current one as a back up after formatting it.
