Hi all,
I got my brand new 8350 today, but I get about 35c idle and I can't OC. I have a hyper 212 evo push pull. I applied thermal paste in a X, but also applied it betwee the lines.
Can you pls help me? Thanks!
Btw my Mobo is the m5a99fx pro r2.0

FX-8XXX don't thermally throttle until 70°C so as long as you're under that at load it's not an issue at all.

You'd see just as much heat with a Haswell i5/i7 :) These newfangled processors are heat generators for sure!

That is not a high temp at all. When you get around 80-90+c you need to worry about it.

Also, having just re-read your post I think you may be using too much thermal paste which is actually detrimental.

Take your heatsink off and clean it and your CPU with Iso Alcohol and a coffee filter (paper towels leave bits and pieces behind; coffee filters do not) then take your thermal paste and squeeze an uncooked pea-sized bead right in the middle of your CPU and refasten your heatsink--the mounting pressure of the heatsink will evenly distribute the thermal paste across the CPU die.

The goal of thermal paste is to fill in the microscopic gaps in your heatsink and CPU heat spreader so there's more contact between the two--you don't want a thick layer of paste between the two.

When you take off your heatsink you'll know if you used too much paste if it has spilled over the edge of the CPU heat spreader.

The problem is, the 212 evo is a pain in the ass to install, I'll do that tomorrow, but I don't have alchohol

It's not absolutely imperative as your temps aren't out of control, but it will lower your temps if that at all concerns you :)

What's your temp at load? Run a CPU stress like intel Burn Test and watch your CPU temps--if they start getting into the 60s then I'd reapply your thermal paste, if they stay in the 50s I wouldn't worry about it.

I'll do it, just to get better temps. I OC'd to 4.33 and it sits at around 56c on Prime 95. (With core temp)
Btw when I run core temp it shows me 25c, in bios 35c
