I would like to upgrade my routers to a version of cisco IOS that supports secure shell and IPv6. The hardware I am using includes the following router models: 2620, 2621, 2651XM, and 1841. I am thinking that with the right IOS, this hardware will be able to do SSH and IPv6, is that correct? I know that SSH requires an image with "k9" in the name (signifying 3DES encryption). Is there a list of cisco IOS versions that support both IPv6 and SSH (SSH2 preferably)? And also is there a list of cisco routers that support specific IOS's? I have been looking through cisco website and have not been able to find exactly what I am looking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If you have a cisco account you can likely look at the download images maybe use the software adviser....hard to say they change the rules all the time. Still it will do you little good. Cisco will not allow you to download images without a service agreement. Most the ones that contain any encryption which includes ssh generally are restricted for export so they are even more restricted.

The only way you are going to get images for study is to find someplace to steal them. Most people use packet tracer or gns3 to practice. If you are chasing ccie level stuff the lab rentals are you best bet since you can not even load many of the 15.x images on the older hardware.
