I want to upgrade my PC in the very near future but I am unsure on what to get and I would like some help. A GTX 760 or a new processor. Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to Tom's forum.

Your question is wide open, since we don't know your current specs give you and advice isn't a good idea. As Brantyn Gerik says, list your current specs and budget for the upgrade and we will let you know what would be the best option.

Permitting you have a decent 400w PSU I would go for the video card than for the processor. Its up for debate Though because both of these could use an upgrade but in games you'll see a bigger difference getting the 760 than a faster CPU.It depends if your only gaming or if your only video editing.

I will only be gaming but I was just wondering if my cpu will bottleneck a GTX 760

GTX 760 or R9 270X. Save up for an FX-6300 at around £80 ---

That will be a nicely balanced rig.

Sometimes, yes --- sometimes, no

You are limited overall by the CPU and the fact your board will only use 95w AM3+ processors.

Your motherboard only support until CPU FX-8300 that IMO would not be a big change compared with change your GPU to a better one. What GPU do you have in mind?

I would only thing in change the CPU if you change to Intel, but that also means that you need to change motherboard.

Thanks for all your help. I think I will get the 760 and then save up a bit more and get an FX-8300.

760 is a solid choice but 8300 isn't. In that way, I would change the GPU and save money for a future change to Intel or FX-8120.

ok fair enough if my current cpu wont bottleneck too much then I will leave it for a while until I can afford go Intel.

+1 for this

Grab a 760 or R9 270 now. Then get an FX 6300 and good 970 board later.

Since you said your PSU is 'soon to be 700w' you should have more than enough power, provided it is a good quality 700w unit.
