Hey,

2 Days ago I ran into some issues with myGtx 550 ti , it would crash to either a blue a white a black or a grey screen. I removed the card and used my integrated graphics and encountered no simular issues.

So I figured it was my Gtx 550 ti that died. Yesterday I picked up an old Gtx 460 that my cousin still had , he stopped using it after having alot of issues with it himself. He did send it to the manifacturer but in their tests the card worked as it should.

So I installed The gtx 460 in my pc ( Specs below ) I installed the driver. And then the card functioned for an hour or so, after that my pc started crashing resulting in a black screen and then my pc reboots. It seems like the crashes have become more frequent even , and when the crashes happen i am not even doing anything intensive for my pc.

I have run out of ideas, maybe you guys have some.
Thanks for your time.

could be your power suply is going bad. it has to pump alot more watts to power the GPU than it does to power onboard video. like ALOT more. do you have a buddy that would yank his PSU for you to test?

also, test the 550ti or the 460 in a friends rig and see if they work there... this is an easier test than yanking a power supply which requires rewiring. I guess it depends how much time you or your friend spent wiring/zip tie'n in the first place.

Dont count that 550ti as dead just yet. if it's under warranty still, send it in. if not... google 'baking GPU in oven'
it's called reflowing, you melt the unseen solder, and then when it recools it will fix broken connections internally.

it sounds ludacris.. i know.. but I've personally saved a 'dead' gtx460 by doing this.

Isn't there any other way to test my PSU ? Otherwise I will go to a friend tomorrow and test the graphics card on his pc .
Also I don't know if this is relevant but both of the 6 Pin Pci connectors are on the same cord.
