Is GIGABYTE a good motherboard brand?

I am considering buying an AM3+ GIGABYTE 970 ATX motherboard from here -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128602 <-. Is this a good quality board? My friend said he has had GIGABYTE boards break on him in the past, but all the internet reviews are positive. Is this board good enough to support an AMD FX6300 with mild overclocks? As well, I notice that this boards PCIe 16x are running at 16x and 4x. Will CrossFire work with two Sapphire Radeon r7 265's?

Gigabyte motherboards overall in my opinion are Above Average for the money you spend on them, you get more range of features for the same dollar to other brands.

I have owned many computers, build hundreds and supported thousands of different Computers systems over the last 20+ years (Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, ASRock, Intel, ECS, Biosstar, Supermicro, HP)

Overall a Solid Motherboard manufacture for the Mid to Mid/High end range of consumers

Although only rumors, I have heard that Gigabytes' low-end motherboards are subject to criticism and failure, although I think this is a thing of the past. I know that I had a friend go through about three Gigabyte boards in an equal amount of years, without a CPU upgrade. Take that for what it's worth. I always hear good things about their high-end boards, though.
