I got a new cpu but no thermal compound. My mom works a lot with electronics so I asked her if they had an thermal compound at her work. She then brought back a tube of this stuff called "Techspray Silicone Free Heatsink Compound" Here's a link to what it is/looks like

http://www.amazon.com/Tech-Spray-Heat-Compound-Silicone...

Basically my question is can I use this on my cpu?

More about : thermal compound

It should work the same as any stock grease. No difference that I can see.

[edit] I found a review oon YouTube, and it didn't work nearly as well as the Arctic Cooling grease.

To be honest, I wouldn't. Thermal compound usually comes with a new cooler. There are a lot out there. but most tend to use Arctic Silver 5 although there are other good ones out there : http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias...

I'm going to test it on an old Pentium I've got in the garage that gets no use anymore. Will report back with findings in a few hours.
