So, I'm pretty sure similar threads to this have been answered many times but I'm a noob with computers and completely dumbfounded to what my problem is and how to solve it. It seems every thread has a different solution.

Whenever i play a game with decent graphics I hear a constant whining/buzzing/screeching sound. When I move my mouse in a separate direction the sound changes in pitch I'm using 3.5 mm headphones and I have them plugged in the back of my desktop (this is a new desktop on Windows 7 by the way).

I have tried trouble shooting by unplugging my Ethernet, keyboard, monitor and mouse, however that didn't yield any results.

Also, my computer is plugged into a separate series of outlets than my monitor (the chords aren't getting power from the same place), I'm not sure if that is significant in anyway.

Finally, the noise doesn't change volume when I change my computer's volume.

I would greatly appreciate help, I'm at my wits end.
