You should wait as cards with the gtx 780ti or titan black will cost $150 in 3 years. See what card fits your needs and crossfire or SLI it to get max fps

I personally think that you shouldn't get a 4k monitor in the first place. I don't see a need for improvement to 1080p res and not much games or movies even support 4k yet. I would however recommend you get a good gaming monitor 1080p and buy an r9 290x as it will run most games on 1080p great (you should be able to play most games in the silky smooth 50-70 fps zone on ultra settings. My old gtx 630 runs most games on 1080p well on medium settings (gettin dat upgrade for ultra) and I just turn anti-aliasing on and the game looks amazing to me, especially the games I run on ultra settings. Jumping to conclusion, an r9 290x is a great card that can run most if not all games at a great fps on ultra, with the exception of Metro: Last Light maybe :p , and if you use 1080p or maybe 1600p then you would have yourself one great gaming experience.

I agree, 4K is over rated, no use for it right now. Maybe in 5 years? Also, if you want max FPS, get the 290X in crossfire. It'll be a BEAST!!

The R9-290X is the next-gen for AMD. They won't have anything new coming out for at least the coming year. Nvidia will have its Maxwell cards out some time in 2014, but there's no good guess as to exactly when.

lol, the gtx titan z is so overpriced, and its way slower. What loser would buy it? Just get two titan blacks in SLI

I'm pretty sure an r9 290x could run many games at 1600p fine, don't quote me on that. If you want more pixels and are willing to buy the 1600p one, go for it.
