My friend is buying a Gaming PC to play games such as:

    Battlefield 3/4
    Day-Z
    Minecraft (FTB)
    Titanfall
    COD Black Ops 2

He'd be looking to be on at least 40 FPS on medium settings at least on most of those games.
This is the system he has been looking at:

4.2GHz AMD FX 4300 Quad Core Processor
8GB of DDR3 1600Mhz RAM Memory
1000GB (1TB) Hard Drive Storage Space
AMD Radeon R7 240 2GB Dedicated Graphics Card
Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 Motherboard & Drivers

Here is the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/VIBOX-Ultra-Multimedia-Overcloc...

He does not want to build one so if you could either give me a yes this ones good, no this ones bad or heres one that's better (in a similar price)

Its probably overpriced as it is pre-built and he knows that but he is happy with paying this if it can run how I described earlier.

Thank You for any responses

The graphics card is pretty weak in that system. you will want at least a r9 260x/gtx 750ti or higher for medium/high settings.

I'd advise against prebuilt rigs most of the time since they tend to skimp on the graphics card and the power supply. That computer will perfom like a mid range computer built in the year 2008. I'd highly recommend stepping up the graphics card or building your own so you may tailor your computer to the way you want it.

that setup is fine for running games on low detail at lower than 1080p resolution. As has been said, you really want to aim for a much better gpu, even the cpu is on the slow side, for only $15-20 more you can get an fx6300 CPU, and for another $50-100 a much better gpu. For 1080p i wouldnt recommend lower than a gtx660 or hd7870/270x. To put into perspective, current consoles (ps4/xbone) use a gpu similar performing to an amd 7850/r270, and consoles cant play bf4 at native 1080p. So if you cant get at least what consoles have, your probably going to be better off with a console.

I am inexperienced in picking parts for a rig myself but if one of you would build a PC part list for me (I'm in the UK). He's looking to spend no more than £400 really but he could stretch as he would if he got the pre-built one.

Thank You

Better case, PSU, and mobo. Had to cut the ram to 4GB to stay around the budget, but it should suffice for gaming.

It would, but get the cheapest 8GB 1600mhz ram you can. Higher ram speeds don't really make a noticeable difference in gaming.

Try to go for something like this

Is that better than this? http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/3oysL

Better case, PSU, and mobo. Had to cut the ram to 4GB to stay around the budget, but it should suffice for gaming.

How would your build with my RAM work? Well?

It would, but get the cheapest 8GB 1600mhz ram you can. Higher ram speeds don't really make a noticeable difference in gaming.

Not really, if you're on a tight budget that's a good choice.

Well it is a very good price for him, would it run Day-Z and BF4 well?

Yes it should; Day-Z better than BF4 though.

The case and the mobo have some compatibility issues, is there a different case that could be used which supports 3.0 USB

There is but at that price you can't go wrong. You could either use the usb 2.0 ports on the front or the usb 3.0 on the back found on the motherboard.

I posted this awhile back because i was going to buy it also but i found this motherboard here

ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard (970 Extreme3 R2.0) $69.99 Newegg

i would strongly recommend getting it. The guy on youtube has literally the exact same setup as the one im building and he can play titanfall on Max 1080p.
here are the links
