Macbook pro 15 mobo

I had a macbook running well but started to shutdown or stay at the spinning wheel. I gave it for repair and he said the mobo needs replacing. said $800.
Is there a cheaper way?
And is it worth trying on my own?
Any help will be appreciated

not worth trying on your own, no. Those Apple motherboards have specific requirements and if not met can cause damage, trying to find another one will be extremely hard to almost impossible. The price is insanely high, as you'd expect from apple but it is the only way unfortunately.
