Can My Mobo Handle an Overclock?

I was just curious if a motherboard makes or breaks your overclocking abilities for the cpu. Would it be an alright idea to oc a cpu on an oem setup? Do modern motherboards really have any restrictions that prevent overclocking? My mobo is the M3970AM-HP. I know my fx cpu can handle it, but will this mobo be safe to oc on?

You'd be taking a serious gamble trying to OC on that board. The 970 chipset built into it is not meant to handle high power draw or overclocking, and it doesn't have any heatsinks built in.

Chances are you'd damage the board.

HP board !
that looks like a sign of no overclocking

try amd overdrive if you can raise ht reference but don't go crazy on it else your pc will be fried
use cpuz to check cpu speed and use hwinfo32 or 64 to keep an eye on temperatures, don't let them go past 60'C
