So i went and bought the aswome fx 9590 from AMD and when i went to task manager it only shows it running at 4 ghz. my Mobo is a GA 990fxa ud5 so i dont think that is the problem. I reset all the settings back to default in the bios but that didnt seem to change anything.

thanks for the correct link;)

If you look at the end of that supprt list it says you must have at least bios revision FCb .

If you do not have at least that revision then you are not yet supported
I would not use the task manager to check cpu speeds.

CPU-Z is a better option, but the computer HAS to be working to get to full speed. If it is not working hard enough it will run a different clock speed to save power and generate less heat.

Also make sure the board in fact fully supports that cpu. It needs to have a pretty beefed up VRM(Voltage Regulation Module) system.

that CPU is not officially supported but that chipset is.

you can verify here:
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3891#

you can run the heaven benchmark to max your CPU, it does with my i5 2500k

the CPU support list goes to the fx 8350

if you scroll down on that link you will see "CPU Support List" in orange letters
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3891#

if your bios is not up to date then that CPU was not supported when the board came out.

maybe temps are throttling your CPU.

have you tried any of the test or used cpu-z to verify.

yeah the cpu z says im at 4 ghz. So do i just have to update my motherboard or do i need to get a brand new one? And i have the corsair h100i liquid cooler on it so heat is not a issue.

Be very cautious but you should have a @BIOS utility that came with the motherboard drivers. It will automatically apply a BIOS update for you while in Windows and restart etc. Others hate this way of doing it but I haven't had a problem at all (knock on wood).

If not you can do it the more technical way by downloading the bios from Gigabyte and putting it into a flash drive. Then doing a Q-flash from the BIOS itself with the loaded USB stick.

Ok so i did what the instructions asked for so i can go into the bios and it shows it stock now at 4.7 but it wont go into windows saying "Not able to read BIOs file successfully" what do i do now?

That's bad news. Did you pick the right bios for the right motherboard?

Gigabyte boards have dual BIOS chips. You should be able to flash it back to the default.

When i first looked at my OS it said other. So i set it to windows 8 and f10 but it did the same thing. Is their anything in this category that i should change?

Make sure you set it to boot from UEFI Windows 8, there should be a specific UEFI option.

ctrl+alt+del

Or just hit the reset button

Go into the BIOS and change the boot device; and remove any USB drives or CD's from the tray.
