I had a little question to ask about a pci-e 3.0 card, which I had -- and want to know will the card get hot during game play at max. on a 1600x900 screen resolution?

the slot that the card is installed on is pci-e 2.0, slot.

thank.

Solution
It will not make any difference in heat at all. since all pcie are backwards compatible. The only thing is your card MIGHT (very slight chance) be bottlenecked since pcie 3 has a lot more bandwidth then pcie 2. There are very few card that do this at this time though

Solution
PCI-E 3.0 cards lose between 1-3% performance on a 2.0 slot.
There's no significant difference in heat, or in anything else.

As new video cards release in the years to come, then PCI-E 3.0 will offer larger benefits to the new cards.

That is not necessarily true. It just depends on the bandwith of the card if it is more than pcie 2.0 can handle you will get reductions in performance. but most cards dont do this so no reductions will happen

Even a GTX 690 loses at most a few fps on PCI-E 2 instead of 3.
