Hi All,

I have i5 2500k processor, OCed to 4.1 ghz
Following are my specs:-

Processor: -i5 2500k @4.1 Ghz
Cooler :- CM hyper 212 evo
Ram- Corsair vengeance 4X2 @1600 mhz
GPU:- Sapphire 6950 2gb

By using bios turbo boost feature without changing volts or anything i overclocked it to 4.1 ghz... and played DOTA 2 for almost 1 hour but after 40m to 1 hr it always gets frozen...... Every time i have checked then again i have to restart pc and change bios setting to default then my pc works like charm....... but why my pc gets frozen every time? though i have custom cooler ?

Please help.
-Thanks:bounce:

Try applying more juice to your CPU and see what happens.

You have an unstable overclock, have you tried prime95 with the overclock? That is usually the goto program to see if you have a stable OC. If you up the HZ and dont change the voltage, chances are it will not be stable. Get a programs like Real Temp and CPUz to monitor your temps and such while running prime 95 to confirm you have a stable overclock.

more power that processor needs more juice bump up the voltage on the cpu

I'll reiterate what everyone else has said in that you need to manually set the CPU voltage (VCORE).

I have a 2500k at 4.4Ghz and 1.25V. At 4Ghz it was set to 1.20V, so logically, 1.22V or 1.23V will be a good figure. Bear in mind that every processor will overclock differently, but those voltages should provide a good starting point.

Download Prime95 and use the Small FFTs Torture Test. This will max out all of your CPU cores so you can check for stability. If the PC crashes, freezes or if any threads fail in Prime95, then you need to increase the voltage slightly. Rinse and repeat until everything's stable.
