I am trying to tackle a cracked LCD panel on a MSI GE60 - the screen is beyond repair and needs replacing. I have replaced laptop screens before (using a spares/repair identical model of the afflicted laptop), but this being a rather unpopular laptop model, not a lot of people are selling screens specifically for it.
My question is, can I just replace it with any LCD screen that fits the bill? Taking data from MSI's site and others, I've deduced the screen to be 15.6" Full HD (1920x1080) LED backlight, Anti-glare, Widescreen, with a 40-pin connector - would a generic LCD bought with those specs physically fit (screws in the right places, etc), and be compatible?
Many thanks for any help. I apologise if this is common knowledge - I have tried to find this information, but cannot seem to get a straight answer from the web.
