Hey, i'm looking for some advice on this budget gaming build i made using some of the "Build your own" guides from the site. The build is the following:

CPU: Intel Core I3-4130 : 120USD
MOBO: ASUS H81M-E LGA 1150 : 60USD
RAM: HyperX 8GB Kit (2x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 : 65USD
GPU: GTX 660 or 760 : 210USD or 250USD
HD: WD Blue 1TB : 60USD
Case: CM Elite 130 or Rosewill ATX Challenger-U3 : 50USD or 60USD
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX 500 80PLUS : 50USD
Total: 665(Highest combination)

Now, i need all the parts to be sold by Amazon, so some of the initial component choices were changed because of that. The main questions i have are:
1)Should i upgrade the CPU? I can't really go over 650, so i think upgrading means switching to AMD. Could i get better performance with an AMD CPU and MOBO for the same price? What are the drawbacks?
2)Is the CM Elite case good? It looks good.

Do you have any recommendations? I'm not very experienced at this, so any advice is more than welcome. If there is a better budget gaming build for the same price i'd very much like to know about it. Thanks!

i would get an i5 and a used GPU.

just my 2 cents. all new gpu's are at a high point a bought a 7950 (r9 280) for $205 6 months ago. picked up a 7950 twin frzr for $170 last week.

there are several 660 and 660ti's for $150-160. these are great cards that are just being rehashed in the new series for both cards. I think they are reliable in a used settings.

just an option, I am in phoenix and have allot of options here

I understand what you mean, i'll get a used 660 and an i5. I'm thinking i5-3470. Unless it's a good idea to get used processors in very good state too, then probably a 3570. Either way i'll be needing an 1155 MOBO, any good cheap possibly OC 1155 MOBOs out there?

Thanks for the feedback.

GPU are about the only thing that I like to buy used. Sometimes you see other stuff but people are usually selling the motherboard CPU power supply and everything together.

I would never buy a used power supply.

So if you find a good deal it is possible but really I buy the CPU and motherboard new. The GPU is very commonly traded out within a year or so and a motherboard CPU combo usually last people allot longer.

If you found an i5 2500k for a really good that would be hard to pass up on.

I do want to make sure that you are comfortable with taking the heatsink off of the GPU so you can give it a really good cleaning and also reapply that thermal paste because they always seem to need it.

make sure before you go and look at anything that it is plugged into a machine and you can see it running a modern game or at least a benchmark suite like heaven. also try and see if you can find the manufacture date or date of sale on the equipment. anything less than a year is golden.

I have also noticed a trend here locally where litecoin miners are leaving the market and allot more 7950's are hitting the market for cheap.
