Gtx Titan black is a single gpu and r9 295x2 is a dual gpu, so a single r9 295x2 will always be better than single titan black.
Which makes the r9 295x2 crossfire notably better than titan black sli.
And r9 295x2 also has some nice cooling and titan black will have it's stock coolers. Once manufacturers like sapphire, gigabyte, asus and msi start to sell it, you will be good to crossfire it. It's 8gb vram will also help you at 4k.

Crossfiring/SLIing a dual GPU card is a pure waste of money. And the OP is not talking about a 295x2 vs titan black, he's talking about 1 295x2 vs 2 titan black in SLI.
Also, the titan black SLI setup has 6 GB usable RAM, whereas the 295x2 has 4.

Since 780Ti has only 3GB of RAM, the titan black offers double that amount.
Really though, you could save some money by going with EVGA's 6GB version of the 780Ti over the Titan Black.
The 790 isn't coming. They've already released a card -- the Titan Z. It's 2 Titan Blacks in SLI with a $3000 price tag.
The 790 was rumored to be 5GB of RAM per GPU.

I still believe a 790 is is in the works. It will be 2 780 Ti's on one PCB. and will probably be like 8GB 4 per GPU. I don't see it exceeding 10GB's

If it is, it'll have to be $1000, as that's the launch price for all dual GPU cards NVIDIA releases.
But I doubt it, as the Titan Black is already on that price tag.

I'd bet 1500 to contend with the 295x2

You've got a point there.
I wonder NVIDIA already had word that AMD were planning to release a $1500 card, so they made the titan Z double of that, and the upcoming 790 the same price.

It would be a smart move for moving these GPUs out since 1500 for sli'd 780ti on a single PCB would make for a good price to performance GPU for them

stock cooler on titan black is not really a problem. the performance is quite good despite being reference from nvidia. and for people that already have water cooling/close loop cooling in their pc the cooler of 295x2 can be an issue. so before buying 295x2 you have to make sure if your case have spare 120mm fan mount to mount 295x2's radiator.

They are very soon going to be selling full water blocks for the 295x2 very soon so if you have a maxed out case you will be fine and performance wise the 295x2 is just as good as the titan z performance wise for games but I have no clue for video editing I think it should be fine the only thing is that you need 550. Watts just to be able to max out the card and that's only for the card nothing else
