Start Menu not working in Windows 8.1 Update 1 even though I have updated everything in the Windows update.

Am I missing something in the settings?

I thought they said they would bring back the start menu like it was in Windows 7, etc.

To clarify I have Windows 8.1

Your guess is as good as mine.
But personally, I don't miss it. Boot directly to Desktop, most used programs pinned to the autohide taskbar.

The date of release for the update that brings back the Start Menu and introduces the ability to run Modern apps in windowed mode is uncertain. It could be released as Windows 8.1 "Update 2", or in next April with Windows 9, if they decide to even call it that.
