Today my computer wouldn't start, it would just turn on and be very noisy but no actual image would be displayed on the screen then it would turn off and repeat the process until I pulled the plug. Then I took the graphics card out which is a gt 610 and it started up fine what could be causing this. I have a dell optiplex 755 sff and yesterday while I was playing minecraft I got an open gl message Lost connection.

That model has intel HD graphics (integrated) you need to go into the bios and turn the intel hd graphics off and switch it to the physical GPU somehow. Just to test this, install the GPU but do not plug the monitor cable in it, then boot up the PC normally.

But if this is the case why am I only having this problem now shouldn't it have happened a long time ago like when I installed the GPU?

Not completely sure with dells... boot it up and watch the screen closely before windows starts. It will tell you to hit a key to enter the bios, usually F2 or Delete.
