I have a 2 TB Seagate Barracuda hard drive that has been making a loud grinding sound on startup. I decided that's probably not good, so I do nightly backups.

Then, this morning I came on to find that I only have 608 kB left of space. I was no where near using even 300 GB of space.

I ran the windows error checking software and it told me that my hard drive has errors and needs to be fixed. (Big help...) So I was wondering how I would go about fixing this hard drive?

Solution
That is a hardware failure, probably damaged sectors. My guess is that the drive is 90% dead already.

RMA the HDD if its still under warranty - You won't be able to fix it yourself.

Dang, I got the computer refurbished so I doubt any parts are under warranty. (I've upgraded nearly all the parts anyways.) I'll probably just buy a new hard drive then. Thanks for the response!
