Whenever I use my monitor, the sound isn't transferred via the HDMI cable from the motherboard. It doesn't show up on the list of output devices (Mac)

Do I need a sound card or other apparatus to make this work?

Monitor: Asus VX238H
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87X-UDH5
OS: OSX Mavericks 10.9.2 (Hackintosh)
Graphics card: EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX 760 2GB superclocked

Thank you

Solution
After installing the HDMI dsplay and HDMI cable, make sure to set the default sound playback device to HDMI.
(The item name may differ depending on your operating system.)

In Windows 8, select All apps>Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Sound>Playback, set Intel Display Audio to the default playback device.
