something burned out again

My PSU burned out today. I replaced it with a spare one with the same power. It has only 20 pins (mobo has 24). So I turned it on, CPU,ram and GPU loaded. But the power indicator light thing spazxed out and shut down ( the light, PC still works). Then the same burning smell occured and I shut it off. What happened?!

well, that was a very old psu if it was only 20 pin, you should only use a 24 pin or a 20+4 pin psu for a mobo with a 24pin power plugin. idk if you damaged anything, inspect all your parts for damage. get a new psu and try it, and hope it still works.

Well since those are both "less quality" PSU's, i recommend you get a proper PSU and see if things still work.

I put the power led in the cha_fan1 in the mobo. Nsrock n68c-gs fix is the mono. That could be why it burned out? Or was that right?

That's not right, no, that's for a chassis fan.

Well, that's why it shorted out prolly -.-, I am planning on getting a new PSU soon but I need my comp today for school. Where should I plug in my power led then? If its not already broken

You could, you know, read the manual. But it should go somewhere with the power button, reset button and hdd led.

cha_fan1 is for Chassis Fan 1, do NOT put any sort of power connector on there, only ever attach a fan to it. This could very well be part of your problem.

You may need a new motherboard....

Oh, I currently don't have a manual at my hand or online since I'm on a phone. I hope the mono didn't break. Could anyone show me a pic or something where to plug the power,restart and HUD dealy-os then.

Well we would need to know your mb for any help. You don't need power led for your comp. to work...just sayin.

My mobo is as rock n68c-GS fx. Computer does work, but the power button is not functional.

HOw do you know it works then? Also, as stated before, your pc doesn't need a power led to run

It automatically starts as soon as I plug the cord. So I know it works. I just wish to plugin the power button so I can start/turn it off via the button

Update : the PCC is veryyy slow, like the type of slow with 64 mb of ram and it was like that before it burned out
