Hi All,
I have brought a used external HDD (Seagate GO Flex 1TB) from my friend for temporary use which I am supposed to return him back after few days. However when I tried to connect the device to my computer, it says that the file system is RAW & hence computer is unable to format it.Chkdsk does not work. Disk Management also fails to execute. My friend knew about it & informed me about the problem beforehand but I insisted, hoping to make use of it somehow. Now I am confused.I dont want to recover any data from it.My nned is to format the entire drive & back my entire desktop. The device has the power light on it & has a separate power adapter with it.The device is getting detected under My Computer but am unable to open it or make any changes. Also Format under Windows & DOS fails.

Need Help friends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If is raw then it is unusable and disk management will not work via usb. You would have to take it out of the enclosure, connect it directly, partition and format. The file system got corrupt somehow.

He could try to re-initialize with a program like Acronics true image,.,
