I found a monitor in my budget on TigerDirect. But I also see that they have a refurbished one for around $25 cheaper which since I'm on a budget is tempting. My question is should I trust a refurbished monitor? This is the monitor http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4841119. And please don't tell me what refurbished it I know that I just want to know how safe it is. I updated this post to get more answers because I mostly got told what refurbished was.

Refurbished usually means there was an issue and they sent it back to be fixed. Whether or not it was fixed well sort of depends on the manufacturer. I've seen refurbed ASUS merchandise that's working just fine after extended use. Do a little research on the company and see if they have a history of poor quality.

Most of the time people just return the item and then the store has to sell it as refurbished or open box. That's what happens most of the time. So usually when you buy these items they are pretty much new condition but have only a 3 month warranty usually. There are times when the item gets repaired if it's cost effective for the company but it isn't always so some companies just trash models that need repairing.
