Will Watch dogs run on a dual-core pc?

Well, first of all, how about those Watch Dogs PC requirements? (4 core cpu min., 8 core rec.)
I was a doubter that games will actually require 4 cores this year, but if this is going to be the new norm, hexa-core gaming will be the standard in a year or two.
With that said, budget gamers like myself are going to have a tough time.
My current rig is a Pentium G2120 (dual core, approx. 3.1 ghz) paired with a 7770 ghz edition from Asus with 1gb of ram.
Also, I have 8gb of 1666 mhz ram from crucial.
So, my question is, can I run Watch Dogs?
It may sound like a stupid question, because yes it says that it "requires" 4 cores, but is it absolutely imperative?
Not only do I want this to thread to help me out, but I think it can possibly spark an interesting conversation about the increase of system requirements and how PC gaming is making the next-step to 4 core gaming.

It will scale you have to understand that there are a lot of gamers with dual and quad cores so in the next year as dx11 reaching its end and dx12 starts( dx11 forced stacking which is where it used the least amount of cores possible dx12 will legitimately use more cores evenly). But there are to many lower core people that they want to buy their game so what you will get is a game that will run but badley on two cores/threads then four cores/threads it will run signifigantly better sixcores/threads even better and at eight cores/threads it will be what iys intended to be. These are ports from systems that use low clocked 8 core chips. So the more cores/threads the better no matter what.
Who knows what it actually requires. It might legitimately require a quad core to run well and be like Crysis 3 where the game will run on a dual core, but will perform poorly. It could end up being like CoD: Ghosts, where the system requirements are complete BS and were made so high solely for marketing purposes, and the game will run on lesser systems. We won't know until the game actually comes out.

So the requirements might not be the requirements, should I gamble and just buy the game for PC, buy for xbox, or wait till I have money for a quad core. Im sorta leaning towards just buying for current gen, but that would be a next-gen game running on 8 year old hardware, not good. Maybe just suck it up and by a quad core. However with the LGA1155 socket my mobo has, the cheapest quad i can get is an i5 for around 140$, dont have that right now as a high school junior with no job. Maybe sell my old cpu and invest in a quad core? Any other suggestions?

Right now I wouldn't do anything until the game comes out and gets benchmarked. I'd say don't bother pre-ordering it, and wait until the game is out before deciding which platform to purchase it on. If it looks like the game is going to run horribly on your PC without putting some serious cash down for upgrades, then maybe look at getting the console version if money is very tight.
