My girlfriend ordered a pre-build computer off Amazon from a company by the name of Cybertronics.
Anyway, the issue I have here is the wireless card is not finding any networks. It appears as if the card is active and functioning properly but it is not discovering any nearby wifi signals, while my laptop in the same position can.
I have Windows 8 so it might be a driver issue? I am not sure.

Failure to show any available networks is not usually a driver issue. Last time that happened to me I rebooted my router and the laptop, that fixed it. Since your girlfriend's is a desktop PC it could be the card is in a poor position low down at the back of the case, so the antenna is not able to function properly.

Rebooted my router and desktop but it is still not finding any networks.
The card is in a moderately bad position, the PC is on the floor under a desk and the card itself is about midway on the tower. Are PC Wireless Cards typically much less powerful than Laptop wireless or something?
