Is the Intel i5 4670k a good for gaming?

I got this CPU on sale at Amazon for $189 on sale a couple days ago. I have 2 questions. Is this CPU good for gaming? Did i get this for a good price?

Yes it is good for gaming, it retails for around $240 right now so looks like you got a pretty decent deal. Do you already have a system you plan on putting this in or are you needing to buy the rest of the parts now?

Yes it is a very good gaming CPU. There are other options that can come out cheaper overall when motherboard is factored in. If you want to overclock, though, that is a great buy.

It is a beast at gaming. And if you can find one for under $220, grab it. I got mine for $230 just after Christmas.

yes the best for gaming as the hyperthreading on the i7 doesn't seem to help much in games yet

The only thing I'd add to that is an SSD later on, it's the single best upgrade you can ever do for your PC, everything is so snappy

you can get a cheap 120gb for about $60-70 on sale, and 240gb ssd go on sale for about $115 now roughly

The CX series used cheap caps that have longevity issues. If you haven't bought it yet I swap it out for a Seasonic or XFX.
