This just happened; scared the s::t out of me. I was playing a game when my screen froze, audio glitched out, and then screen turned red. I think this may be my WD MyBook drive that I pried out of a portable HDD from before I was born, as it has been making grinding/buzzing noises recently and my Steam install is there. I'm switching Steam install to C drive and removing the drive, but is this enough? Thanks.

Thanks, even the redscreen thing is caused by faulty drive? Also, can I keep it until its death to store useless .mp3s and stuff, or could it damage my system?

OHHH SNAP! But seriously, thanks for the advice. Steam games and FTL are backed up to the C drive. Yay!
