What psu is better?.

Solution
I dunno about that. I remember that review for the XFX. He gave it a very low score in performance because while it put up outstanding numbers all across the board, it failed the crossload test which by his own admission, he ran out of spec. And in any case this is something that 99.9 percent of users will never run across. In this price range there is no perfect unit, compromises have to be made, and I consider that to be an acceptable one. He also took points off for aesthetics, because he didn't like how it looked, which is obviously completely subjective. The corsair unit on the other hand has good specs but crappy build quality. In his review, he noted that some of the 5 volt wires didn't work at all, (but for some reason I...

How do you figure that? The XFX is the much better unit, and is quite a bit less money. The Corsair is the crappier unit, and costs quite a bit more. How does that equal Corsair being a better buy?

OP, get the XFX.

The corsair is more efficient. That is the reason for the higher price.
Chances are it does not use quite as good of caps as the other unit, hopefully the lower heat production would offset this issue.

Jonny Guru did a review on it and found it was not bad, but his was actually missing a small wire inside(I would hope that this was an isolated incident.).

Closes XFX model they reviewed(XFX XPS 650W XXX ) actually scored a bit lower.

If energy efficiency is not an issue(lower 80+ ratings do not prevent a unit from delivering its rated power, they just use a bit more to make that power), go with the cheaper one for sure.

How a unit can not have points taken off when it doesn't even work out of the box is beyond me).
In any case, as I said, I would definitely take the XFX over the corsair because:
It has better specs, with the one crossloading exception which no one uses.
Much better build quality.
Anytime I am undecided, I'm going to take a Seasonic unit over a Chanelwell.
Lower price.

Efficiency is a complete non starter; they are so close in efficiency run them both for a year and at the end of the year, you will have payed maybe 2 dollars a year more in electricy. Obviously doesn't justify the substantial increase in cost.

That XFX XXX unit is a tier one psu. Corsairs tend to use cheap capacitors that fails after a couple years (but are great up until then). XFX is also Seasonic OEM, which is the gold standard of psu's here.
