HP Pavilion dm1, 4 years old, mostly internet use will turn on to 'HP', then backlit screen, and no further. Slow death so I could backup and do AVG, Malwarebites and CCleaner full scans. Over 3 days, went from reboots to flashing screens, to current no boot. Any ideas. Love the computer and hate to loose it. We did check added dram and cleaned contacts, but being a compact (small) laptop, there's not a lot you can do.

Thanks for being here. Boni

Hi, All,
Happy camper here. While waiting for diagnostics, I Googled Recovery Manager. I wanted RM from 'sort of' the start-from the time I couldn't boot up Windows and had done a backup. btw, the diagnostics were all 'good' except the battery was 'weak'. I found topic that said press F11 for Recovery Manager. I did a Recovery. Full format, return to original settings. It worked! I now have a day's work ahead of me, but I have my favorite computer back. Looks like I lost my installed programs, but that's ok. Needed to clean house anyway. Keeps me on my toes.

Thanks to all for this forum. Hope I can help someone someday. Hugs, Boni

SchizTech,
Thanks so much for a quick reply. Testing being done. I'll report how it goes. I must say I googled everything I could think of and came up with 'nada'. I did plan on trying all the 'F' keys, but forgot. Thanks again, Boni
